Things to do in San Jose

In the area for a while? Need to kill some time between the ceremony and the reception? Here are some things to do in San Jose. We'd love to hear or see pictures of any San Jose adventure you have!

Starbucks
5651 Silver Creek Valley Road, San Jose, CA
This is a Starbucks nearby.

Pho Y1 Noodle House
1660 East Capitol Expressway, San Jose, CA
Tiff and Ed's favorite Pho restaurant. Crowded? Don't like it? There are three other good Pho restaurants in the area.

San Pedro Square Market
87 North San Pedro Street, San Jose, CA
At some point, downtown San Jose got a little hipper than Tiff and Ed remember. This place has a lot of different food and drink options. It almost feels like a bunch of food trucks took permanent residence in a building. Don't worry, it is a little cooler than that sounds.

Santana Row
Santana Row, San Jose, CA
Some fancy high end shopping here. Fun fact: Valley Fair, the mall nearby, is in two different counties, each with a different minimum wage.

Wine tasting in Morgan Hill
1480 East Main Avenue, Morgan Hill, CA
Guglielmo is here, and Castillo Hillside Shire Winery is nearby.

Studio Climbing
396 South 1st Street, San Jose, CA
Come partake in Ed's favorite past-time. This is a rock climbing gym that used to be a movie theater.

Winchester Mystery House
525 South Winchester Boulevard, San Jose, CA
Aside from being the heart of Silicon Valley, this is the other thing San Jose is known for. Tiff and Ed haven't really been here.

Gilroy Premium Outlets
681 Leavesley Road, Gilroy, CA
Forgot to bring an outfit change? Find something at the Gilroy outlets.

Castro St
Castro St, Mountain View, CA
Slightly above average food and tech companies. San Jose in a nutshell.

Grand Century Shopping Mall
1111 Story Road, San Jose, CA
This is a big asian mall. It also houses one of the venues where we could have had our reception.

Stanford University
450 Serra Mall, Stanford, CA
A local university.

San Francisco
San Francisco, CA
If you're traveling from a far and have never been, try to make a day trip to SF.

Pauline is Tiffany's older sister and a lawyer by trade. She has recently gotten into running and is always up for trying new beers and wines, especially while watching Bay Area sports. She loves to travel around the U.S. and to visit National League baseball stadiums.

On a Sunday morning, you can find Pauline at a coffee shop reading the New Yorker or at the local farmer's market dreaming up her week's culinary adventures.

Natalie is Tiffany's younger sister and is finishing up her last year at UC Davis. She is a hipster and loves drinking coffee, wearing Buddy Holly glasses, and oversized sweaters. She loves trying new restaurants and watching Netflix. Nat frequents Trader Joe's often and loves making gourmet meals on a budget. Online shopping is her weakness.

If Natalie could have one super power, she would choose teleportation so she wouldn't have to wait for a Southwest deal to travel.

Juliana and Tiffany met at revisit day during medical school and became friends instantly. Juliana is from Orange County and went to UC San Diego for undergrad. She loves baking, running, and has recently started hiking. She loves nothing more than finding a good designer deal, especially involving anything worn by Kate Middleton. She is well versed in basketball and follows Jeremy Lin's career religiously.

Tiff is smart and confident with a soft spot for all things miniature and Parisian. She enjoys cooking, traveling, and hiking, and exploring the neighborhood for the next best coffee and dinner spots. She also likes to shop.

One thing people may not know about Tiffany: she double majored in Art History and volunteers with the art therapy program at the hospital.

Tiffany has a knack for finding out your life story in just a few questions. Ed cannot wait to forever be a part of hers.

Ed is 27 and a software engineer at Pixar. He has a ton of hobbies, but loves rock climbing and more recently, chess and running. Ed also enjoys watching football and is a huge Stanford fan. His idea of a perfect weekend is a morning hike, brunch, afternoon movie, and dinner with friends. Ed secretly wants to be a professional dog walker.

Anyone who knows Ed would consider him a jokester with a big heart. Tiff feels so lucky to be able to marry him!

Edison is Ed's older brother. Although similarly named, the two are almost nothing alike. Edison enjoyed math in middle school, studied computer science and now works as a software engineer. Joking aside, Ed has always looked up to his big brother and it's no surprise that he's following in his footsteps.

Edison loves games of all varieties: board games, card games, video games, and mind games. He seeks adventure, whether it be hiking a new trail or para-gliding along a beach cove.

He once fed a wild squirrel and has swum from Alcatraz to San Francisco.

Jonny, BT, and Eddie met in first grade and have been best friends since. (Ed was Eddie back then, so we're sticking with that here.) Whenever they're all in town, you can expect to find them getting breakfast together and mulling about.

At some point, Jonny and Eddie started rock climbing, and since then, whatever Jonny and Eddie used to do together has been replaced with climbing. Jonny helps Eddie make his way out to real rocks.

BT and Ed have racked up countless hours playing video games, talking about whacky things in the news, and taking a shortcut home that's not a shortcut at all. The verdict is still out on who's better on Smash 64: Eddie's Yoshi or BT's Link.

Jonny is finishing his Ph.D. at Yale and BT is finishing his Ph.D. at UCSD. What overachievers.

Ed spent way more time on the website than he should have. He is really excited about the keyboard shortcuts. He used these to build the page:

  • jinja2
  • jquery, jquery.scrollTo, jquery.slidesjs
  • less
  • font-awesome
  • google fonts

For the mobile version, he used:

  • dragendjs
  • photoswipe
